Caleb, 10 years old - Austin, Texas
Diagnosis: Microcephaly after the Zika virus
Caleb cannot walk, but his eyes are full of life and desire to communicate. His family is from an impoverished suburb, and in the past they couldn't afford even basic medical care. Now João participates in our festivals with other children and for the first time he has received a pediatrician.
Kevin, 5 years old - New York, USA
Diagnosis: Motor impairment after a car accident
At the age of 3, Kevin was in a serious car accident. He lost mobility in his legs and took a long time to adjust. The Foundation helped the family to receive therapy, and Kevin himself became a participant in a children's activity at a running marathon. We saw how important it is not only to treat, but also to give children a sense of participation and joy.
Maria, 9 years old - Newark, USA
Diagnosis: Oncology (leukemia).
Maria is a brave girl who is undergoing chemotherapy and yet never stops dreaming of becoming a doctor. Because of her illness, she often misses school and feels lonely. Thanks to the Foundation's projects, she received a tablet with training programs and letters of support from the participants of the race. Today, Maria draws us postcards and says she feels the whole world supports her.
Lucas, 7 years old - Phoenix, Arizona
Diagnosis: Infantile Cerebral Palsy (ICP)
Lucas was born prematurely and from the first months of his life he began to struggle to be able to move. His mom is a single mom who does everything she can to give her son a chance for a normal childhood. Thanks to the foundation's donations, Lucas was able to access a special wheelchair for the first time and began rehabilitation. His smile when he participates in our sporting events is what we work for.
